Entry-Level Resume

If you do not have a decade of titles, the resume should still show evidence. Education, internships, projects, and campus leadership can carry a first full-time application.

Summary

Recent industrial engineering graduate seeking an operations coordinator role. Combines a warehouse internship, a capstone that cut mock-order cycle time 22%, and campus leadership that required clear handoffs — not a decade of management titles.

Education

University of Wisconsin–Madison B.S. Industrial Engineering, May 2026. GPA 3.6/4.0

Relevant coursework: Operations Research, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain Analytics, Technical Communication

Experience

Operations Intern — Lakeside Cold Storage, Madison, WI May 2025 – August 2025

  • Tracked inbound appointments for Dock 3; reduced same-day missed check-ins from 9 per week to 4 by sending a noon exception list to the lead receiver.

  • Built a simple receiving checklist the intern cohort still used after August (12 steps, one page).

  • Shadowed Friday invoice-to-cash huddles; documented three handoff mistakes that finance later turned into a process note.

Shift Assistant (part-time) — Campus Copy Center, Madison, WI Sep 2023 – May 2026

  • Trained 8 student employees on the rush-job ticket so jobs stopped disappearing into personal DMs.

  • Cut reprint waste 15% over two semesters by adding a “confirm file version” check before the press ran.

Projects

Capstone — Simulated dispatcher queue for a 12-truck regional fleet Spring 2026

  • Modeled intake vs. ad-hoc radio calls; recommended a single queue. Simulated cycle time improved 22% in the team’s test set of 400 orders.

  • Wrote the training one-pager the faculty advisor used with the next student team.

Campus & community

  • Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE), UW chapter — Events lead, 2025–2026; ran 4 plant tours with 30+ students each.

  • Volunteer logistics, Madison Food Collective — Saturday inbound coordinator, 2024–2026; trained new volunteers on a 6-step receiving card.

Skills

Excel (pivot tables, basic stats) · Process mapping in documents (not specialized BPMN software) · Written SOPs and checklists · Spanish (professional working proficiency)

What this document is

An entry-level resume is a single-column, standard-heading document aimed at students and early-career applicants. It is still ATS-oriented. It is not a guarantee that any employer’s parser will rank you.

When to use it

Use this when internships, coursework, and projects are the strongest proof. Use the ATS-Friendly Professional Resume when you have substantial reverse-chronological work history.

How to use this ZuffSuite template

Lead with education if it is recent. Quantify internships and projects. Keep headings conventional so a parser and a recruiter see the same order.

Questions people actually ask

Should I include GPA?
Include GPA when it is requested or when it is a strength. Otherwise skills, projects, and internships usually matter more.
Will this pass every ATS?
No template can promise that. Clean headings and a single column reduce common parsing problems. Employers still use different software and human review.
