What makes an action item actionable?

An action item needs a clear verb, one owner, and a due date or an explicit reason there is no date yet. Keep decisions separate from tasks. If a note only says “follow up,” ask what outcome is expected before assigning it.

A useful meeting action items should include

  • One specific action per row
  • An owner only when notes identify one
  • A concrete date or a visible field to confirm
  • Decisions and open questions kept separate from tasks

About this meeting action items

Does this tool use AI to read meeting notes?

No. It runs in your browser and uses simple text patterns to organize lines. It does not upload notes to an AI service; review the result because shorthand can be ambiguous.

What if the notes do not name an owner or date?

The corresponding field stays blank for you to resolve. Leaving uncertainty visible is safer than assigning a person or deadline that the meeting did not agree on.

Can I paste a meeting transcript?

You can paste text, but transcripts often contain repeated or ambiguous statements. Short notes organized by decision and topic usually produce a cleaner first pass; review every row.
