Add a few details to the form and generate a draft you can edit, copy, or download.

A clear first draft, in three steps.

The tool structures what you enter. Review names, dates, assignments, and requirements before you treat the result as a plan or agreement.

  1. 01

Enter a project and list distinct outcomes, decisions, or handoffs.

  2. 02

Add the people or roles that participate in those work items.

  3. 03

Assign R, A, C, or I in each cell; check for one A and at least one R per row.

How do the four RACI roles differ?

Responsible does the work. Accountable owns the outcome and approves completion. Consulted provides input before work or a decision is finalized. Informed receives an update. A person can hold more than one role, but each task should have one clear Accountable owner.

A useful raci matrix should include

  • Tasks phrased as outcomes, decisions, or handoffs
  • Exactly one Accountable person for each row
  • At least one person Responsible for doing the work
  • Consulted and Informed roles used where communication differs

About this raci matrix

Can a task have more than one Responsible person?

Yes. Several people can contribute as Responsible, but define how they coordinate. Keep one Accountable owner so approval and outcome ownership stay clear.

Can there be more than one Accountable person?

A RACI matrix is clearest with exactly one Accountable owner per task. If approval is shared, split the decision into separate rows or agree who has final accountability.

What should go in the rows of a RACI matrix?

Use a manageable list of deliverables, decisions, or workstreams. If a row contains several outcomes with different owners, split it before assigning roles.
