Which resolution should I pick?
Resolution sets how many pixels each inch of the page becomes. For a US Letter page:
- 72 DPI (612 × 792 px) — small previews and thumbnails
- 150 DPI (1275 × 1650 px) — clear on screens, slides, and messages
- 300 DPI (2550 × 3300 px) — print quality; small text stays crisp when zoomed
JPG or PNG?
JPG keeps files small and is ideal for pages with photos. PNG is lossless and keeps text and line art perfectly crisp, at the cost of larger files. Either way, a higher resolution can't add detail to images that were low-resolution inside the PDF.
