Crop, fit, or stretch?
When your target has a different shape from the original, something has to give. The preview shows the exact result of each choice:
- Crop to fill — fills the whole frame and trims the edges that don't fit. Best for social posts and thumbnails.
- Fit with padding — shows the entire image and fills the leftover space with a colour you choose. Best when nothing may be cut off.
- Stretch — forces the exact size and distorts the image. Only use when the source is nearly the right shape.
Common sizes
1920 × 1080 is Full HD (16:9), the standard for desktop wallpapers, slides, and video thumbnails. 1080 × 1080 is a square social post, 1080 × 1350 a portrait post, and 1080 × 1920 a full-screen story. 1200 × 630 is the usual size for link previews.
Making images larger
Resizing down keeps images crisp. Making an image larger than its original can only spread existing pixels further, so enlarged results look softer — the tool warns you when a size enlarges the original.
